FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATORS

GENERAL INFORMATION/PROVISIONS:

The Study of the U.S. Institute Program for Secondary Educators which will be conducted at the Institute for Training and Development at Amherst, Massachusetts and the second institute will take place at a site to be determined, from mid June to early August, 2011.

This program is designed as rigorous six-week academic seminars whose ultimate purpose is to provide multinational educators with opportunities to broaden the cultural and historical base of the courses they design and teach by enriching their knowledge of U.S. society, culture, values and institutions, past and present. In addition, the participants will improve the quality of their teaching and enhance the development of curricula about the U.S. in educational institutions and school systems abroad.

Both programs will offer a broad overview of the United States in the context of American studies and its constituent disciplines through an integrated series of lectures, reading, interactive discussions, site visits, independent study opportunities and faculty-assisted curriculum research.

Each participant will be provide all participant costs, including: program administration, domestic travel and ground transportation, book, cultural, mailing and incidental allowances, housing and meal arrangements, and health insurance.

Dependents cannot accompany scholars on any part of the program and scholars will not receive a separate allowance to support dependents.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate must:

1. be a Thai citizen in good health;

2. be mid-career, between ages of 30-50;

3. hold a master’s degree or higher;

4. be a highly-motivated and experienced secondary teacher whose assume responsibility for teaching American-Studies related courses and for curriculum development in the relevant disciplines; has the ability and willingness to incorporate information about U.S. culture, society, history, and institutions in his/her teaching and professional work. Candidates are expected to have a basic understanding and knowledge in the related fields;

5. be an experience professional with little or no prior experience in the U.S. whose home institution is seeking (a) to introduce U.S. studies into its curriculum, (b) to develop new courses in the subject of the institute, or (c) to enhance and update existing courses on the United States;

6. demonstrate oral and written English language fluency. Scholars will be expected to handle substantial reading assignments in English and to be full and active participants in all seminar and panel discussions.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Applicants who are interested in applying for this program must submit the completed application, one letter of recommendation, a copy of your transcripts and a copy of the standard test score report (if applicable) by mail or by-hand delivery to THAILAND-U.S. EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION[1], 21/5 THAI WAH TOWER 1, 3RD FLOOR, SOUTH SATHORN ROAD, BANGKOK 10120” NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 15, 2010, to be eligible for further consideration.

The selection will be made by the Study of the U.S. Branch, Office of Academic Exchange Programs, U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. As a general rule, the Study of the U.S. Branch will not select more than one scholar per country to participate in each institute program.

สถานทูตอเมริกันประจำประเทศไทย ร่วมกับมูลนิธิการศึกษาไทย-อเมริกัน (ฟุลไบรท์)[2] กำลังเปิดรับสมัครชิงทุน Study of the United States Institutes Program for Secondary Educators ประจำภาคฤดูร้อน 2554 เพื่อให้อาจารย์สังกัดโรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาที่สนใจสมัครเข้าร่วมโครงการอเมริกันศึกษากับสถาบันการศึกษาในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นระยะเวลา 6 สัปดาห์

ผู้สมัครจะต้องเป็นอาจารย์สังกัดโรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาที่ดำเนินการสอนและ/หรือมีส่วนร่วมในการวางหลักสูตร การสอนในวิชาการที่เกี่ยวข้องกับบริบทอเมริกันศึกษา ไม่ว่าจะเป็นทางด้านประวัติศาสตร์ ศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม สังคม การเมือง การปกครอง และ/หรือกฎหมาย ทั้งนี้ครูผู้สอนจะต้องมีความรู้ ทักษะ เจตคติที่ดีต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้เพื่อพัฒนาทักษะการคิดอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพอันจะส่งผลถึงการพัฒนาทักษะการคิดของนักเรียนเป็นสำคัญ มีความพร้อมทางภาษาอังกฤษ สามารถอ่านเอกสาร 25-30 หน้าอย่างต่ำได้ทุกวันตลอดโปรแกรม สามารถร่วมอภิปรายอย่างเต็มที่ ทั้งยังสามารถเข้าร่วมทุกกิจกรรม ณ สถาบันในแต่ละโครงการได้ตามกำหนดการ (กรุณาดูรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมในเอกสารที่ได้แนบมาด้วย) และต้องได้รับอนุมัติจากหน่วยงานตันสังกัดให้ลาเพื่อเข้าร่วมโครงการฯได้

ผู้สมัครที่สนใจสมัครชิงทุนสำหรับแต่ละโครงการสามารถดาวน์โหลดใบสมัครจากเว็บไซต์ของมูลนิธิฯที่ www.fulbrightthai.org และต้องส่งใบสมัครที่กรอกสมบูรณ์แล้ว พร้อมทั้ง หนังสือรับรอง ทรานสคริปปริญาโท ประวัติย่อและผลการทดสอบทางด้านภาษาอังกฤษ (ถ้ามี) พร้อมทำสำเนาใบสมัครจัดเป็นชุดรวมต้นฉบับจำนวน 5 ชุด (ห้ามใช้ลวดเย็บกระดาษ) ไปยัง “มูลนิธิการศึกษาไทย-อเมริกัน (ฟุลไบรท์) เลขที่ 21/5 อาคารไทยวา 1 ชั้น 3 ถนนสาทรใต้ กรุงเทพ 10120” ภายในวันศุกร์ที่ 15 ตุลาคม 2553 หากมีข้อสงสัยประการใด กรุณาติดต่อ คุณชีวรัตน์ ได้ที่หมายเลข 02-285-0581-2 ต่อ 107

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY INELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM IF YOUR INFORMATION PROVIDED FOR THE APPLICATION IS FRAUDULENT. FULBRIGHT WILL HENCE REPORT THIS FRAUD TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
